Frequently Asked Questions

Pilates is a form of low-impact, highly effective exercise that facilitates improvement in flexibility, muscle strength and posture. Pilates is designed to deliver key health benefits through isolation exercises connected to your breathing and state of mind.

Mat Pilates helps improve posture, relieve stress, improve physical conditioning and body awareness. Using floor-based techniques and exercises, Mat Pilates focuses on stretching, strengthening and lengthening muscles, especially around the core. We offer basic and intermediate level classes, our instructors will ensure exercises are matched to your ability and needs.

Reformer pilates is performed on a “reformer machine” that helps achieve low-impact muscle toning and strengthening. Reformer machines use springs for resistance and can be adapted to all fitness levels. We offer basic and intermediate level classes, our instructors will ensure exercises are matched to your ability and needs.

Mat Pilates is a series of exercises from within the Pilates Method designed specifically to be performed on a mat. Mat pilates can also involve small pilates equipment such as a pilates ring, resistance band, weighted balls etc. Exercises are performed in a slow, controlled, precise manner and require focus to maximise benefit. These exercises help strengthen the body’s core, and improve flexibility and muscle tone by developing pelvic and scapula stability and abdominal control, facilitated by focused breathing patterns.

Reformer Pilates  is done on a bed-like frame that uses different weighted spring combinations to create resistance during movements. The reformer machine  facilitates targeting of smaller muscle groups to further enhance strength, flexibility and balance, which in turn improves posture, movement and mental health.  Additional accessories may also be incorporated to optimise exercises.
